Instructions on how to declare a service provision to SERI
Here you can find instructions on how to use the SERI online portal to submit or renew your declaration for the provision of services in Switzerland (max. 90 working days per calendar year) and which documents are required for the declaration procedure.
First declaration
- Create an account on the online portal (see Guidelines for registration below).
- Once your account has been created, log in to the online portal.
- Click on ‘Create declaration’.
- Fill in the requested information relating to the services that you wish to provide.
- Upload supporting documents:
- Proof of citizenship (passport or identity card)
- Current attestation that you are legally authorised to carry out the professional activity in your country of origin and that you have not been barred from doing so, even temporarily
- Certified copy of your professional qualification document
- Proof of valid professional liability insurance (depending on professional activity)
- Proof of payment of the CHF 90 processing fee. The account details can be found here (PDF).
- Click on ‘Submit declaration’.
- The SERI Declaration Centre will send an email confirming receipt of the declaration and will check the documents submitted. You will be notified by email if any required documents are missing.
- Once all the necessary documents have been received, an email will be sent with information about the subsequent steps in the procedure. You may be required to submit original documents by post so that their authenticity can be verified.
- Once the declaration is considered complete, it will be forwarded directly to the competent authority for the verification of professional qualifications.
- As soon as your professional qualifications have been fully verified, your declaration will be forwarded to the authority responsible for regulatory control of your professional activity.
- You may commence your activities as soon as the competent authority confirms that there are no obstacles to the provision of services. This notification will be given within one month of receipt of your complete declaration.
Renewal of declaration
The declaration must be renewed annually. It can be submitted no earlier than November for the following calendar year. Renewal with SERI is free of charge.
- Log in to your existing account via the online portal.
- Under ‘Actions’, click on the icon with the circular arrow to create a renewal request.
- Describe the services that you wish to provide.
- Upload supporting documents:
- Current attestation that you are legally authorised to carry out the professional activity in your country of origin and that you have not been barred from doing so, even temporarily
- Proof of valid professional liability insurance (depending on professional activity)
- Click on ‘Submit declaration’.
- The SERI Declaration Centre will send an email confirming receipt of the declaration and will check the documents submitted. You will be notified by email if any required documents are missing.
- Once all the necessary documents have been received, an email will be sent with information about the subsequent steps in the procedure. You may be required to submit original documents by post so that their authenticity can be verified.
- Once the declaration is considered complete, it will be forwarded directly to the authority responsible for regulatory control of your professional activity.
- You may commence your activities as soon as the competent authority confirms that there are no obstacles to the provision of services.
Important: You are legally required to notify SERI of any changes to previously submitted information and to provide the relevant supporting documents to the SERI Declaration Centre.
