Space affairs

The space domain is a major driver of Swiss science, economy and society. Not only does it make a significant scientific contribution to the exploration of Earth and the universe, it has also become an integral part of our everyday lives. From satellite communications, navigation, positioning to weather forecasting - space technologies are with us every day.

Space – a driver for prosperity and innovation

The space domain plays an important role in our society. It strengthens Switzerland as a research hub, creates prosperity and high-quality jobs, increases security and boosts the country's innovation capacity. A strong commitment to space is essential for Switzerland.

Switzerland as a reliable partner

Switzerland has been actively involved in space since the beginning of the space age. Today, thanks to its innovative strength and precision, it is regarded as a competitive and innovative partner in Europe and worldwide.

Competence centre for space at SERI

The Space Division of SERI (Swiss Space Office) is the federal government's competence centre for national and international space matters. It promotes and coordinates Swiss activities in space research and utilisation. Swiss space policy and the new federal legislation on space operations are being developed under the leadership of SERI.
