Legal Professions

In Switzerland, admission to the legal profession (assistance and representation of parties in court) is regulated in the corresponding cantonal legislation.

Please contact the judicial authorities of the canton where you wish to work:

Please note that legal activities not related to assistance and representation of parties in court are, as a general rule, not regulated. It is therefore possible to work in Switzerland in this field (e.g. as a legal advisor) without having to obtain recognition of the foreign qualification.

EU/EFTA Lawyers: you will find more information on the procedures in force at national level in the Federal Act of 23 June 2000 on the Free Movement of Lawyers (SR 935.61).
