Declaration Requirement for Service Providers from EU/EFTA Member States

EU/EFTA citizens wishing to carry out a regulated professional activity in Switzerland for a maximum of 90 working days per calendar year must submit a declaration form to SERI before services are provided. If the professional activity has a potential impact on public health or safety, then the vocational and professional qualifications are carefully checked by the competent authority. Compared to the recognition procedure for people moving to Switzerland, processing times for service providers are shorter. An online platform has been set up to simplify the centralised procedure.

All service providers from EU/EFTA member states are also subject to a further obligation to register with the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) (notification procedure for short-term employment). The official notification form must be submitted online no later than 8 days before commencement of work.
