An important part of this work is the development of the Roadmap for European Research Infrastructures (ESFRI Roadmap). This ESFRI Roadmap contributes significantly to the further development of the European Research Area (ERA). The strategy, promotions and development of research infrastructures by ESFRI continues to be a priority in the ERA Policy Agenda 2025-2027.

The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) ensures Switzerland's representation in ESFRI and promotes active networking with European partners. Swiss research institutions wishing to be included in the ESFRI Roadmap can apply to SERI for political support.
