Federal Commission for Space Affairs

Mandate

The Federal Commission for Space Affairs (CFAS) is a extraparliamentary commission and

  • advises the Federal Council on matters relating to a coherent and forward-looking space policy by taking into consideration the European and global development and the national interests (amongst others of political, application-oriented, scientific, technological and industrial nature);
  • issues recommendations to the Federal Council regarding the implementation of this policy;
  • advises the Federal Council in terms of the evaluation of proposals for projects with important scientific or technological relevance.

The SERI's Swiss Space Office serves as the secretariat for the CFAS.
