Since 2009, Switzerland has taken part in the ‘Active and Assisted Living (AAL) Programme’, which is part of the EU’s framework programmes for research and innovation. The overall aim is to improve the quality of life of older people through technological innovation while at the same time strengthening Europe's technological and industrial base.

In order to gain deeper insights into the medium and long-term effects of Swiss participation in the AAL programme, SERI commissioned econcept AG (Zurich) worked with Højbjerre Brauer Schultz (Copenhagen) to conduct an impact study.
