Swiss medical faculties have to contend with limited hospital internship resources. For this reason, the Swiss Conference of Higher Education Institutions commissioned the Swiss Science Council to examine the common admissions procedure used by the University of Basel, Bern, Fribourg and Zürich for studies in medicine. The SSC was asked to assess the methodology and content of aptitude tests and make a recommendation on whether new admissions criteria should be introduced.
