In January 2017, the Federal Council asked SERI to examine the effects of digitalisation on education, research and innovation. This mandate was given as part of the ‘Digital Switzerland’ strategy. SERI then commissioned a brief study to specifically examine Swiss patent activities relating to new technologies and digitalisation technologies.
