Interdepartmental Coordination Committee for Space Affairs
The Federal Council has given the Interdepartmental Coordination Committee for Space Affairs (IKAR) a mandate to prepare official Swiss position papers on space matters. IKAR coordinates between the various federal offices involved in space affairs. The committee is chaired by SERI’s Space Office, which also serves as the IKAR secretariat.
Swiss delegation to ESA
The Swiss delegation to ESA represents the country’s interests vis-à-vis the Agency and its other member states. It acts as an interface between ESA and players from the Swiss science community, the industrial sector and users of space applications.
SERI staff form the core of the Swiss delegation to the ESA Council and its sub-committees. They are supported by specialists from other departments and by delegates from the science community and user organisations.
Swiss delegation to ESA-EU
Following the adoption of a Framework Agreement in 2004, ESA and the European Union established the High-Level Space Policy Group (HSPG), a consultative body comprising representatives of all ESA and EU member states. The Swiss delegation to the HSPG is led by SERI’s Space Office and includes representatives from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA.
