Germaine de Staël: mobility between Swiss and French researchers
The "Germaine de Staël" programme promotes collaboration between French and Swiss researchers and research teams by providing funding towards travel and accommodation expenses incurred by their team members as part of attending meetings or conferences. Funding of around CHF 4,500 per project per year is provided to Swiss participants. The application period for the funding programme "Germaine de Staël" has been extended to July 1st.

Special COVID-19 Call for ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea
The current Special COVID-19 Call for Project Grants awards project funding for research questions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current call comprises all scientific fields and is not limited to epidemiological or medical studies. However, the research projects have to be collaborative projects between researchers based in Switzerland and Asia.

Leading House Region Africa Seed Funding 2020
The LH Africa is launching a fast track call for applications from Swiss academic institutions that can support the partners’ efforts in Limpopo province to accelerate the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, especially SDGs 3, 5, 6 and 13, in the Limpopo province to mitigate some of the impacts of COVID-19. The current seed money call aims at developing new or consolidating existing partnerships with institutions in South Africa. It will offer to the collaborating institutions an opportunity for opening or strengthening their potential of long-term collaboration and follow-up activities.

Swiss Africa Business Innovation Initiative - SABII
The Africa Market Discovery Camp aims to boost the entrepreneurial know-how and exposure of 10 Swiss Sciencepreneurs seeking growth opportunities with and in Africa. Offered free of charge to ambitious young entrepreneurs, this highly competitive program guarantees access to African innovation hotspots at a key event for entrepreneurs and investors, the AfriLabs Annual Gathering. Industry meetings with selected experts and stakeholders from different fields, information sessions on “How to do business in Africa”, interaction with African startups and entrepreneurs will lead to relevant connections for potential cooperation. Selected young entrepreneurs receive a unique opportunity for exposure to top African entrepreneurial expertise and markets. A half-day workshop in Switzerland will introduce to market specificities.

Innovation and Internships
Innovation partnership grants support the establishment of collaborations between Swiss researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences or public research institutes with non-academic innovation agents in China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea and member states of the ASEAN. These agents can be corporates, SMEs or start-ups, innovation parks or similar entities with a focus on applied sciences or technical development.

Leading House Latin America: 2020/2021 Academia-Industry Training (AIT) Brazil and Colombia
The AIT program helps young scientists transform their high-level applied research into market applications by connecting scientists from leading institutions in Switzerland, Brazil, and Colombia. The program assists participants in advancing business plans, establishing contacts with industry, clarifying intellectual property issues, networking at an international level, and fostering new partnerships and collaborations.

Leading House Russia: Research Preparation Grant
The aim of the Research Preparation Grant is to provide seed funding for projects between academic actors in Switzerland and Russia. Research Preparation Grants are intended to allow first contacts and interactions between teams of Russian and Swiss researchers, leading up to joint applications for calls to be launched by the SNSF with its Russian counterparts or other funding options. To make sure the exchanges are not limited to individuals and to warrant mid-term perspectives, applications by teams of at least two persons per country, including young researchers, are encouraged. Projects submitted must specify a timeline and objective for external follow-up funding.
Budget: up to CHF 20’000

Call for Young Researchers' Exchange Programme with China
The Leading House Asia at ETH Zurich supports the exchange of young researchers between Switzerland and China. The 2020 call is now open and offers the opportunity for young Chinese researchers to be hosted in a Swiss research group. Swiss senior researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences or research institutes and from all scientific disciplines can apply to host young Chinese scholars (PhD students or post-doctoral researchers) in Switzerland for 6-24 months. A scholarship is jointly provided by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Leading House ETH Zurich to cover living allowance and international travel.
Call for Swiss Startups: #SwissTech Pavilion at CES ASIA 2020
Ambitious Swiss startups seeking to conquer the Asian market can now register to join the #SwissTech Pavilion at CES ASIA 2020, Asia’s largest tech and digital expo. Once again swissnex China, the Science Consulate of Switzerland in China, is offering booths free of charge to 24 leading Swiss startups in partnership with Presence Switzerland and with the support of institutional partners.
European Space Agency (ESA) - Continuously Open Research Announcements (CORA)
ESA research announcements are the official access routes for institutional users to use research facilities managed by ESA's Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration. The Science Department of ESA’s Human Spaceflight and Exploration Directorate recently undertook an extensive exercise to create a new strategy, focusing on a set of newly-defined goals to positively shape its research programme and maximise research.
Opportunity Grants for ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea
Opportunity grants will support activities of Swiss researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences or public research institutes linked to specific events or incidents in China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea and member states of ASEAN. Examples of such events are on the one hand large public happenings, such as the Olympic Games, international or national Expos etc., or on the other hand major environmental or economic developments in the region. The goal of the opportunity grants is to provide non-bureaucratic support to bottom-up initiatives. These initiatives aim at increasing the visibility of Swiss science and technology abroad or applying its results to a concrete development or challenge. Projects must go beyond research cooperation or academic conferences. Please check with the Leading House whether your initiative is suitable.

The Leading House ETH Zurich opens a call for proposals for opportunity grants with China, Japan, South Korea and the ASEAN countries. Applications are accepted on a rolling base until 2020.
